Picking the Best Professions for Your WoW Account Characters
The World of Warcraft simulates the real world, so real that even the characters in the game have their own professions. Since a single WoW account may have up to ten characters in it, it is so unlikely that a player will only stick to one.
For the record, professions are divided into two types, primary and secondary. A WoW account holder may choose up to two primary professions, and as many as he wants for the secondary. All professions in the game would fall into three categories: production, service, and gathering. This article will help you get the briefing you want to start a WoW account.
PRIMARY PROFESIONS: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Herbalism, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, Mining, Tailoring, Skinning, Inscription
SECONDARY PROFESSIONS: *Cooking, *First Aid, *Fishing
Alchemy
An alchemist in your WoW account would mix herbs to create powerful potions useful because of their effects. Since an alchemist can create healing, elemental resistance, buffs, essential oils for weapons and armors, they are much sought after as a party member. The usefulness of this character in your WoW account makes it one of the most popular profession for WoW account characters.
An alchemist will not need special equipments to create potions other than agents. The only thing it requires is a flask. Potions can be used by the player himself, give it away to friends, or make money out of those through selling.
Since alchemists make potions out of herbs, it is recommended that you’re already an Herbalist, so you don’t have to buy herbs from other players.
Blacksmithing
A must in your WoW account, blacksmiths create weapons and armors that are unique and cannot be bought or found from any other entity in the game, hence can generate gold when sold to market. Blacksmiths require anvil to hammer heated metals. Most of the time, a blacksmith can only perform his craft if he is near an anvil. The value of blacksmiths make it a staple in every WoW account.
Being a Miner will save you money since you don’t have to buy metal from other players, you can simply find those yourself. Certain recipes may require cloth, leather, or even gems.
Unless you’re a kung fu kid, you won’t have any use for a blacksmith in the game. Blacksmiths can also create Skeleton Keys, useful for opening locks.
Enchanting
Enchanters on your WoW account will be useful to permanently upgrade a certain equipment. Note that their skills are not meant to create items, but intensify the existing ones. An enchanter has the power to disenchant magical items and use the fragments to refine other weapons and armors.
Items to disenchant are the challenges for enchanters, since most of those have to be gathered. These items are relatively useless to other classes that other players who acquired them might give them to you freely. If an enchanter is in the haste, he can always spend money to buy things that he need. Unlike blacksmiths, an enchanter doesn’t need a special location to execute his work.
An enchanter can also enchant his own ring with bonuses. The enchanter alone can benefit from those.
Engineering
Engineers require a lot more space in the inventory than others, since there are certain quantities of raw materials that you need to gather before you could create a certain item. They are useful in making scopes, guns, explosives and others. Having an engineer on your WoW account is highly suggested.
It is advised that you should already be a miner before you start engineering, since recipes often include jewels. Can’t mine jewels yourself? Try auction house. Certain recipes also require leather. Some wacky things can only be used by engineers themselves. Having an ngeineer on your WoW account would be fun. Maximize its full potential.
Herbalism
The most necessary requirement for alchemy, herbalism compiles herbs found all over the world of WoW. An herbalist on every WoW account should have a lot of inventory space for all the collected herbs. These plants can also be found in caves and even underwater. Be careful when picking out herbs. Some herbs may give you debuffs.
Jewelcrafting
Jewelcrafters possess the ability to create jewelries from rare gems and metals, essential for a WoW account. They also have the ability to cut the gems to be used in socketed items. Miners who usually find gems while gathering ore will depend on jewelcrafters to process thoe raw gems.
Leatherworking
A leatherworker on your WoW account is useful in making leather, mail armor, armor kits, epic quality armor (high levels), and other miscellaneous items such as Riding Crop. The main staple for leatherworking is obviously leather as well as hides.
Mining
Miners gather materials used for blacksmithing, engineering, and jewelcrafting, definitely one of the most useful characters on you WoW account. Other people from different professions get their raw materials from miners since they have a higher chance of encountering them. Of the three items that miners tend to gather (metal, stones, gems), gems are the rarest. You may choose to keep them to give to your friends or sell them to earn money.
Tailoring
Tailors have the ability to cut cloth into various armor, bags, shirts, and other wearable items, equally important as blacksmiths, in demand and a must have on WoW accounts. They are the ones responsible for what the Mages, Warlocks, and Priests. Unlike other professions, tailors don’t need special equipment to create items, a gathering profession, or a special location. They can create items whenever they want, provided that they have the proper ingredients, where they can find from monsters or you can simply but those from other players.
Skinning
Without the skinners, blacksmithing, engineering and tailoring will be halted since all three need skinners to gather leather and hide. Not all monsters can be skinned. A skinner on your WoW account might save you gold, since you can use it to search for the items yourself rather than buying it. Skinners can find creature-specific hides too.
Inscription
In WoW, the practitioners of inscription are called “scribes”. Scribes enhance the spells and abilities of players’ characters. Scribes can create enhancing scrolls which may boost a certain aspect of a player. Its advised to pick up herbalism together with inscription since a scribe needs to mill several herbs to produce inks. Activating your scribe on your WoW account can help boost your guild in the battlefield
*Cooking
Chefs cook food and use it to heal players out of combat. Some recipes can give you buffs that can last for 30 minutes. As long as there is a campfire, a chef can cook his recipes. These recipes often have better effects and cheap than potions. There aren’t many chefs in WoW, and it’s worth a try. Create a chef on your WoW account and see how hilarious it could be.
*Fishing
Fishing is like a mini-game itself. Inherent relaxing feeling, just like the real fishing experience, can be seen here. Part of the fun in fishing is the things that you can get on your bait. It’s not all about the fishes sometimes. There would be treasure chests, rare items, and humorous objects that you can get.
This secondary skill is best paired with Cooking. A fishing tournament happens at Stranglethorn every Sunday at 2 p.m. game time, and your fisherman on your account should join.
*First Aid
This skill allows you to heal yourself and others. As a physician, you can create bandages from ingredients that you can find by killing monsters. Bandages are useful since using it can conserve mana, and heals faster than food. Playing your physician on your WoW account will benefit the guild.
For some players, a profession is more likely than the others. Part of playing your WoW account is being able to interact with other players and leveling your characters at the same time. It doesn’t matter what profession you prefer. Truth is, it’s just dull without one of them. A true WoW master would have knowledge and experience on all fields. To achieve that, maximize your WoW account inventory and make sure that each character is unique than the other. A better understanding WoW is to go through all of them.
